Do you have a Vaporesso XROS 4 that’s leaking? Vaporesso uses a proprietary technology called SSS that makes the pods some of the most leak resistant in the industry. The technology involves the use of quadruple silicone gaskets – both at the top of the pod and at the bottom – to keep the e-liquid in its place. Despite the steps taken by the manufacturer, though, it’s still possible for your XROS 4 to leak if you do something incorrectly.
In this guide, we’ll explain how to fix your leaking vape and prevent leaks from happening in the future.
Dry the XROS 4 and Pod Completely
Before you can determine why your Vaporesso XROS 4 has leaked, you need to clean the mess that’s already there. Here’s how to do it.
- Dry the bottom of the pod with a paper towel.
- Dry the chamber at the top of the XROS 4 with cotton swabs or a paper towel.
- With the pod removed, hold a paper towel over the chamber at the top of the XROS 4 while blowing firmly through the air intake.
- Examine the XROS 4’s pod chamber. Is it wet? Dry it with cotton swabs or a paper towel and repeat the previous step until no more e-liquid comes out.
Once you’ve completed all of the above steps, check the XROS 4 to confirm that it works. If it doesn’t, try replacing the pod. If the device still doesn’t work, it’s likely that the leaked e-liquid has contaminated the XROS 4’s internal electronics. You can try reviving it by sealing in a bag with desiccant for a day or two. If that doesn’t work, you’ll likely need to replace the device.
Use Less Air Pressure When Vaping
The most likely reason why your XROS 4 is leaking is because you’re inhaling too firmly when you puff on the device. If you hear gurgling when you vape, you’re using too much air pressure.
A small pod system like the XROS 4 has tiny airflow vents in order to provide a tight mouth-to-lung draw like what you experienced with cigarettes before switching to vaping. The drawback of using a vape with a small air intake, though, is that you can overwhelm the device’s airflow system if you puff too firmly. If that happens, the coil assembly at the center of the pod will flood with excess e-liquid.
If you want to get bigger clouds with your XROS 4, there are three different ways to accomplish that.
- You can take longer puffs – but always remember to use gentle air pressure.
- You can increase the device’s power level. The XROS 4 has three power levels available, and you can toggle between them by clicking the fire button three times.
- You can use a pod with a lower resistance. XROS pods are available with resistances as low as 0.4 ohm. With a lower resistance, you’ll get bigger and warmer clouds.
Leave Some Room at the Top of the Pod When Refiling
The next most likely reason why your XROS 4 is leaking is because you’re not leaving any room at the top of the pod when you refill it. When you replace the mouthpiece after filling the pod, the filling hole is closed by a silicone stopper inside the mouthpiece. If you don’t leave enough room at the top of the pod, the stopper will push some of the e-liquid out when you replace the mouthpiece. It’s okay to fill the pod almost all of the way, but you need to leave a little empty space at the top.
Leaving empty space when you refill your pod isn’t just important because of the stopper in the mouthpiece. It’s also important because of how vape pods are designed. When you inhale through the device, a partial vacuum should form inside the pod. The vacuum keeps the e-liquid in its place and prevents the pod from leaking. If there’s no room for air in the pod, though, the vacuum can’t form. That makes the pod more susceptible to leaking.
Keep the Pod Topped Up
Because of the way the XROS 4 is shaped, it’s likely that you store your device on its side when you aren’t using it. Have you ever picked your device up in the morning only to find that the pod seems to be gurgling and leaking? Try adding e-liquid to the pod before you put the device away for the evening.
Any vaping device can leak if it’s stored on its side for extended periods without a sufficient amount of e-liquid in the tank or pod. That’s because there’s enough e-liquid to cover one side of the coil but not the other side. In that case, e-liquid can begin to flood the coil assembly because air enters the pod through the airflow system, breaking the vacuum.
Confirm the Mouthpiece Is Securely Attached
When you refill your XROS 4 pod, it’s crucial to confirm that the mouthpiece is securely attached before you start vaping. The stopper on the inside of the mouthpiece can only seal the filling port if it’s fully inserted, and that can only happen if the mouthpiece is locked down. After filling the pod and closing it, give the mouthpiece a quick wiggle to confirm that it’s not loose.
No One Should Have to Deal with a Leaking Vaporesso XROS 4
Reading this guide, you’ve learned what you should do first if your Vaporesso XROS 4 leaks – you should dry the device thoroughly before the leaked e-liquid has a chance to contaminate the internal components.
More importantly, you’ve also learned what you can do to prevent your XROS 4 from leaking in the future. If you heed all of the tips, you should never have to worry about a leaking vape again.
- Don’t puff too firmly. If you hear gurgling, you’re using too much air pressure.
- Don’t overfill your pod; always leave a little empty space at the top.
- If you’re going to store your XROS 4 on its side overnight, fill the pod first to ensure that the coil is completely covered with e-liquid.
- Check the mouthpiece after filling the pod to confirm that it’s securely attached.
